Overview

The BMW 1 Series Convertible is the fourth derivative of the 1 Series, following the 3 and 5 door hatchback and the Coupé. The new car will be available in five engines and will have an electronically operated folding fabric roof that opens in just 22 seconds.

One of the features of the new car is an air-conditioning system which recognises when the roof has been opened and defaults to a 'Convertible' mode. The soft leather seats also have sun-reflective technology which means they will stay up to 25 degrees cooler during those hot summer days.

For safety, two rollover bars extend from behind the rear seats in a fraction of a second to protect the occupants should the sensors detect that the car is about to flip over. The new BMW 1 Series Convertible also has a range of technologies to make the car run more efficiently and produce less carbon dioxide, called BMW Efficient Dynamics.
