New Jaguar XE SE

The XE SE may be the entry-level model, but you wouldn't know it by looking at its features list. The car arrives packed full of advanced equipment as well as premium styling details inside and out to give it wide appeal. Out on the road the vehicle is exciting yet economical enough to satisfy those who don't like compromise from their car.

Exterior

Slim headlamps, a rectangular grille and balanced proportions make the XE instantly recognisable as a Jaguar. It is shorter than its siblings however which is a plus for buyers who frequently travel in the city. The elegant gloss black grille is finished with a classy chrome surround while the 180PS diesel rides on 17-inch 'Turbine' alloy wheels.

Interior

Underneath the saloon's sophisticated body is a supportive cabin that also strengthens the car's first-class status. The 8x8 way manually adjustable front seats enable you and a passenger to find the most comfortable position before you set off. Cloth upholstery heightens this feeling of comfort, and across the dash and doors is more gloss black veneer.

Technology

Dominating the dashboard is the InControl Touch system with an eight-inch colour touchscreen display. It gives you simple and safe access to many different functions including satellite navigation, audio, climate and telephone. You can also link your smartphone to the system and interact with apps through the display itself. One other standard feature is the InControl Protect SOS Emergency call which records your location and alerts the emergency services should you need them.

Engines and performance

A choice of four diesel and one petrol engine is given by Jaguar to match the XE's output to your preferences. The 2.0-litre 163PS and 2.0-litre 180PS diesels can be specified with either manual or automatic transmission. It returns as much as 75mpg combined while emitting just 99g/km of CO 2. It's no surprise that business buyers make this model their first choice. The petrol is a powerful 200PS 2.0-litre with an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The 0-60mph sprint is over in just 7.3 seconds before a top speed of 147mph is reached.

Safety

The XE is as safe as it is sophisticated, so when you are enjoying its engaging driving dynamic you can have complete peace of mind. Autonomous Emergency Braking is a standard system which warns you of a potential collision and brakes automatically if required. Torque Vectoring by Braking maximises your control when cornering and when an automatic transmission is selected, All Surface Progress Control (ASPC) helps the car to find traction on slippery surfaces.
