The Range Rover Sport builds on the power and confidence of the original with added athletic qualities. It also arrives with some of the most comprehensive standard equipment of any new Land Rover, and a version that's purpose-built by the team responsible for bespoke vehicle commissions.
A more muscular stance and appearance sets the Sport version apart from the classic Range Rover. LED signature headlights add personality to the vehicle's strong face, and the automatic headlights and rain-sensing windscreen wipers activate just when you need them. Front and rear fog lights are also fitted as standard, and the rear door glass is toughened for added solidity.
There are four equipment levels with the Range Rover Sport: HSE, HSE Dynamic, Autobiography Dynamic and SVR.
As you'd expect from a Land Rover, the comfortable and spacious Command Driving Position is waiting for you in the cabin. All seats have integrated heating, and the interior mood lighting creates a relaxed atmosphere. Simply set the two-zone climate control to your desired temperature and get straight out on the road. This can be upgraded to four-zone control as an optional extra.
Take on every new adventure and terrain with the full support of intelligent Land Rover technology. For entertainment, the eight-speaker Range Rover Audio System brings you music through DAB digital radio, MP3s and USB and AUX connections. Menus are brought up on an eight-inch touchscreen, and the TFT Virtual Instrument Panel makes controls and dials simpler to read and operate.
The SVR model has been specially developed by Land Rover's Special Vehicle Operations division. As a result, it's impressively luxurious inside and out. You can identify it by its contrasting black roof and eye-catching blue brake callipers. Inside the SVR, premium carpet mats and Style Nine 16-way sports seats with memory are individual additions to the design.
Sporty engines are offered to deliver the power and forceful torque you need. HSE comes with a 306bhp 3.0-litre diesel, which generates an incredible 700Nm of torque. It takes only seven seconds to cover 0-60mph. The Range Rover Sport works hard in all situations, with a braked towing weight limit of 3.5 tonnes.
All versions use a smooth eight-speed automatic transmission, and the HSE model can claim as much as 40.4mpg combined. Autobiography Dynamic can be chosen as a supercharged petrol-powered vehicle or as a reassuringly efficient hybrid.
Alongside the athletic nature and capabilities of the Range Rover Sport, there has been no compromise when it comes to passenger safety. Trailer stability technologies, braking assistances and Roll Stability Control are joined by driver and passenger airbags, power child locks and front and rear parking distance sensors.
