BMW R 1200 GS

The BMW R 1200 GS stands out, even within the high-performance Adventure line-up. It's an icon, known as 'the GS', and is definitively one of the most powerful bikes on the road.

Design

Strong dirt bike looks are created with the sculpted surfaces and precise finishing. The free-form surface headlights are expressive, and they're permanently on for maximum visibility at night and in poor weather. The exhaust system has also been designed for acoustics, amplifying the aggressive growl from the engin

Safety

To keep you safe as you explore the bike's limits, Automatic Stability Control and special Rain and Road driving support is included. The suspension uses travel-dependent damping to give you the exact balance needed over rougher surfaces.

Technology

Within the impressive form of the R 1200 GS, there are no compromises on function. It comes kitted out with a flat information screen and diagnostic interface. Handguards protect you at all times, as does the highly adjustable windscreen. The seat, handbrake and clutch can also be repositioned for the most comfortable, immersive ride.

Just as with its passenger cars, BMW keeps things simple throughout the Motorrad range. The bike comes with a main centre stand for stability - something that's typically an optional extra. It also includes BMW's 'one key' system, so a single key is all you need for the storage compartments, steering, fuel cap and ignition.

With so many options available with the bike, you can make sure yours is one of a kind. Build on the individual style with chrome plating for the exhaust system and cross-spoke wheels. You're also free to add LED headlights and indicators, heated grips, cruise control, a lower seat and 'keyless ride'. The many accessories are mixed and matched in the Comfort Package, Dynamic Package and Premium Package.

Engines and Performance

Using a twin-cylinder boxer engine, the R 1200 GS can generate as much as 125bhp and 125Nm of torque. These impressive figures lead the way for Adventure bikes, and the top speed in excess of 120mph is just as envy-inspiring. A new system of combined air and liquid cooling for the engine makes it more reliable and efficient than ever before. It also partners with a six-speed constant mesh gearbox.

If you choose Riding Mode Pro as an upgrade, you can switch between ride settings for tailored performance. The modes are Dynamic, Enduro and Enduro Pro, optimised to get even more out of the R 1200 GS.
