The entry-level 420i uses a four-cylinder 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that produces 184bhp, powerful enough to see a 0-62mph run in 7.8 seconds. If that isn’t quick enough the mid-level 430i steps the game up with a six-cylinder 3.0-litre turbocharged engine and shaves 2 seconds off the 0-62 run, managing it in just 5.8 seconds. The range-topping 440i uses the same 3.0-litre six-cylinder but power has been increased to 326bhp saving a further 0.8 seconds off the 0-62 sprint, completing it in just 5.0 seconds flat. There is a range of equally powerful diesel options on offer as well, starting with the 420d and finishing with the most powerful 435d xDrive.
