I’m looking to blend different cuttings, so from a distance your eye puts it together as a complete landscape.
Giles Davies came to magazine collage from a background in graphic design and discovered a way of blending fragments of print to create vibrant landscapes. His chosen medium allows great flexibility to combine incongruous details in a surreal and often humorous way. He combines imagination and experimentation in his use of materials from recycled magazines.
Giles is inspired by the effects of different light conditions on a landscape using intricate magazine collage to capture light and reflections across the surfaces and landscapes of the Peak District.
