With the new BMW F 900 R dynamic roadster and the BMW F 900 XR crossover bike, BMW Motorrad elevates its mid-range line-up to new heights. Both models are crafted to deliver thrilling performance on winding roads, offering enhanced agility that appeals to seasoned riders, newcomers, and those returning to motorcycling. The BMW F 900 R emphasises sporty riding pleasure as a dynamic roadster, while the BMW F 900 XR stands out as a versatile companion for extended tours and travel that requires luggage.
The new BMW F 900 R and F 900 XR are powered by a tried and tested 895 cc two-cylinder in-line engine, delivering 77 kW (105 bhp) for dynamic, exhilarating performance. This robust engine meets Euro 5+ standards with a torque curve that ensures seamless power delivery. A newly calibrated "Dynamic" riding mode comes as standard, enhancing sport-oriented riding pleasure and control. Safety features like Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) and engine drag torque control (MSR) are also standard, preventing rear-wheel slip during abrupt throttle changes or downshifts.
The engine’s distinctive 270/450-degree firing interval delivers a characteristically rich sound. For those seeking an even bolder auditory experience, a new lightweight sports silencer, developed in collaboration with Akrapovič and saving approximately 1.2 kg, is available as an official BMW Motorrad accessory.
On both the new BMW F 900 R and the new BMW F 900 XR, the front wheel is guided by new, torsionally rigid, upside-down telescopic forks with 43 mm slider tube diameter. Both rebound and compression damping as well as spring preload are now adjustable. This makes it possible to tailor the forks to suit individual requirements.
The new BMW F 900 R and F 900 XR also feature new 17-inch cast aluminium wheels. They weigh around 1.8 kg less than the previous models, contributing to a total weight reduction of 3 kg.
