Small means mighty in the MINI John Cooper Works - often shortened to JCW. It's made to push performance to new limits, doing so in undeniable MINI style. As the fastest-ever full production MINI car, the John Cooper Works leaves the rest of the compact car class standing.
The new John Cooper Works is available as a 3-Door Hatch, Convertible and now in Clubman and Countryman models. With all being identified by their optional sport racing stripes and bold red paintwork accents, such as on the roof and door mirror caps. The JCW also sits slightly lower to the ground than other models in the range, and sports a hexagonal mesh front grille. Each have their own unique characteristics but all boast awe-inspiring power under the bonnet – and share the same proud legacy. Each model is built with racing-grade tuning and upgraded parts to deliver a potent combination of precision handling and ballistic acceleration that would make John Cooper proud.
Typical MINI style is seen in the rounded headlights and sporty twin exhaust pipes. Air ducts added to the front hint at the extra force from the engine. The convertible version can bring you the added thrill of top-down motoring, with the semi-automatic soft-top roof lowering quickly to take full advantage of sunny days. While the Clubman and Countryman allow you to pack more and explore more places with your JCW.
On the inside, the perfectly circular instrument dials, sports seats and controls can only be MINI. The John Cooper Works sports seats are finished in leather and with red deatils. The large speedometer sits in the centre, and can optionally include displays for MINI infotainment systems. At the driver's position, the stainless steel pedals and footrests add to the sporty character. There's plenty of storage behind the two ergonomic seats, with up to 240 litres of space in the boot in the 3-Door Hatch.
The power within the compact JCW is generated by a 2.0-litre turbo charged engine. Special John Cooper Works tuning gives the car an extra power boost over the Cooper S. Strength and efficiency levels across the range are attractively high, especially with the generous fuel tank capacity.
In the 3-Door Hatch and Convertible you have at least 228bhp and 273Nm to work with at the car's peak, taking the 0-62mph speed to just over six seconds. Get behind the wheel of the new MINI JCW Countryman or Clubman and that power steps up to 302bhp with 450Nm torque. Both models take advantage of MINI ALL4 all-wheel-drive to help keep that power on the road via a new eight-speed automatic gearbox.
Certain versions come with MINI's ALL4 four-wheel drive system. It makes the car hug the road and grip tightly in corners. The John Cooper Works also shows off the latest safety measures, such as Automatic Stability Control + Traction. Driver assistances include Cornering Brake Control, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution and Brake Assist.
An active rollover bar is fitted, as are comprehensive surrounding airbags. Add LED headlights for even higher visibility at night. In all situations, the John Cooper Works keeps you protected and confident.
