Day In The Life Of: Group Senior Digital Marketing Executive

Meet Immy, the Group Senior Digital Marketing Executive for Williams. Immy has been with us since September 2023 and supports the incredibly important Marketing Team with its online and digital efforts and ensures the group and retailer websites are running as smoothly as they can be.

The Marketing department are part of the Head Office, but are actually based in Pall Mall, Liverpool. The department organise and host the events a lot of our customers and colleagues have become accustomed to, create breath-taking visuals to support the vehicles we’re proud to sell and keep everyone updated with all the need-to-know information from the group and its retailers.

How do you start your day?

I generally start my day waking up at around 7am… and then getting out of bed after about ten minutes! I get ready for work by having a shower to really wake me up and pick my outfit for the day… pretty usual stuff. I don’t have far to drive but I like to leave a bit earlier to try and avoid rush-hour and school traffic.

What is the first thing you do when you arrive at work?

I plug my laptop in and while it boosts up for the day I grab myself a quick coffee and think about my day ahead. I usually start off by checking my emails and to do lists from the previous day/week. I have a soft-spot for data so always check the analytics of the website to see what’s performing the best, and what pages we could improve.

Last thing you do before you leave work?

I ensure all my correspondence is up-to-date and create a list of things for whatever is next, or write my priorities are if I had missed anything from that day’s to-do list. I also remember to wash my Williams mug ready for the next day!

What in general will take up the most time in your day?

Mainly liaising with the agency that operates the backend of our content management system, if I notice something is wrong or want a new page for the website creating, I need to go to them first. After that, it’s thinking and creating the content that will speak volumes to our customers.

What motivates you the most every day at work?

That’s a really tough one as there’s so many reasons to be motivated! I suppose the main thing is seeing a campaign myself and team have worked hard on paying off – which gives us motivation to improve on the next one to make it bigger and better!

What's your favourite aspect of your role?

Another difficult question, but I love the fact that I can be creative. I have two very arty degrees; my Bachelor’s degree is in Photography and I have a Master’s in Curatorial Studies. They both lend themselves great to marketing and creativity. I love researching and writing, which there is a lot of in this role.

What's your best memory when working at Williams?

At the end of our most recent colleague and customer event (at the time of writing this), the whole team (although tired from working so hard) came together to congratulate one another on a job well done. It’s that sense of comradery that’s a really special feeling.

Three skills you use every day in your role?

  • Written communication
  • Agency liaison and management
  • Creativity!

How do you unwind in the evenings?

I tend to come home and make a meal pretty much straight away so I can relax properly after a day’s work. I’m trying my best to write a novel at the moment, it’s a slow process but hopefully I’ll get it finished by the end of the year! Writing is definitely my passion, and although I do a lot of it in my role, I just can’t get enough.

Working with Williams has enabled me to get to know respected and iconic automotive brands, while being part of a team that genuinely looks out for my best interests. I’m Immy and I’ve been part of the Williams difference for 11 months and counting.
