Williams is proud to partner with Maggie’s, the home of cancer care. Maggie’s offers practical, emotional, and psychological help to anyone affected by cancer, both online and in beautifully designed centres located alongside NHS hospitals. Each space is designed to bring comfort, calm, and a sense of hope during the most challenging times.
Founded by Maggie Keswick Jencks, the charity was inspired by her own experience of cancer. Maggie recognised that a diagnosis affects not only the individual but also their family and friends, and she wanted to create a place that made the experience more manageable for everyone involved.
The first Maggie’s Centre opened in Edinburgh in 1996. Today, a nationwide network of centres provides vital support across the UK, including the three centres Williams proudly supports in the North West. Find out more about Maggie and her story here.
As a family business rooted in the North West, Williams wants to make a local impact. We focus our support on the Maggie’s centres in Manchester, Merseyside, and Oldham, where we can make a meaningful impact. We believe everyone facing cancer deserves access to emotional, financial, and psychological care, not as an optional extra but as a core support. Cancer is brutal, and people need more than medical treatment. They need a safe space, expert listening, and practical help. That is Maggie’s.
Maggie’s centres are not just rooms with chairs. They are deliberately designed to heal, uplift, and restore dignity.
In our region, Williams supports the Maggie’s centres in:
We champion one strategic initiative: ensuring those centres stay open, fully staffed, accessible and welcoming. Williams encourages staff, customers, and the community to participate in meaningful fundraising efforts and awareness initiatives.
It costs around £2,400 a day to keep a Maggie’s centre open. This covers everything from expert staff and daily running costs to the programmes and workshops that make such a lasting impact. Every penny raised helps ensure that Maggie’s continues to offer free, practical, and emotional support — no appointments, no referrals, just help when it’s needed most.
Maggie’s benefit advisers have helped visitors claim over £53 million in financial support, while 99% of visitors say Maggie’s helped them feel less alone, and 97% say it improved their ability to cope with stress.
