Hot New BMW X2 M35i

The New BMW X2 has been on sale for less than a year and we have already received news of the new M-Performance BMW X2 M35i. This is the first M branded car to come with a four-cylinder engine.

It’ll act as a sportier flagship SUV aiming to compete with the likes of Audis SQ2 and the Mercedes-AMG GLA35. Now just because BMW has done away with the usual in-line six-cylinder engine that we have become accustomed to with M branded cars, doesn’t mean it’s any less of a performance model.

The new 2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder unit fitted to the X2 M35i will produce a maximum power of 302bhp with 332lb-ft of torque. The BMW X-Drive system will see all that power being sent to all four wheels though an eight-speed automatic gear box. With launch control activated, 0-62mph will take 4.9 seconds.

Not only has the engine been given the M performance treatment, but so has the chassis. The X2 M35i comes with a lower and stiffer suspension set-up that doesn’t compromise on comfort thanks to a redesigned rear axle. Adaptive dampers are an option that will give the driver two manually selectable modes to adjust the setup and a recalibrated steering system has been fitted that aims to deliver a sportier feel to the drive. Larger front brakes are also fitted along with a locking limited slip differential on the front axle.

Outside, the BMW X2 M35i can be distinguished by the sportier front bumper with redesigned air intakes, M Sport rear spoiler, a redesigned rear bumper housing the new M Sport exhaust and a set of light-weight M Sport 19-inch wheels. Inside, the cabin gets some more subtle changes, with an M Sport branded steering wheel and seats lifted from the standard X2 M Sport interior package.

We expect the new BMW X2 M35i to go on sale early next year with prices yet to be announced. If you can’t wait that long, then why not contact one of our five BMW Franchise Retail Centers spread across the North West and arrange a test dive of the excellent X2 or any of the other cars in the BMW range.
