The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé brings a blend of sportiness and elegance to the premium compact segment. In its second generation, the 4-door model accentuates these signature BMW qualities even further. With a bolder design and improved dynamic performance, the new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé makes an even more striking impression. An entirely renewed drive portfolio, advanced suspension technology, and cutting-edge systems for automated driving and parking deliver an unparalleled driving experience.
The new BMW 2 Series Coupé will be produced at the BMW Group’s plant in Leipzig, with the market launch starting in March 2025.
Let’s have a closer look at the new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé:
The exterior design of the new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé stands out with its bold front, sleek, elongated silhouette, and a muscular rear, all of which emphasise the sporty elegance typical of a BMW Gran Coupé. The wide BMW kidney grille, positioned beneath the headlights, features an innovative pattern of vertical and diagonal bars, while the large lower air intake enhances its low, road-hugging stance, reinforcing its dynamic and athletic presence.
The side profile of the new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé is characterised by a long bonnet, short overhangs, and a gracefully flowing roofline. A pronounced crease near the rear emphasizes the athletic shoulder section, while the signature “Hofmeister kink” is accentuated by a subtly embossed "2" at the rear of the sleek side window graphic.
The rear features a modern, powerful look with expansive surfaces and minimal lines, complemented by flat lights with a distinctive notch and seamlessly integrated exhaust pipes (except for the BMW M235 xDrive Gran Coupé).
The exterior colour options include two solid finishes, seven metallic shades, four BMW Individual finishes, and a wide selection of special finishes from BMW Individual. A high-gloss black roof is also available for added contrast.
The redesigned interior of the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé comes standard with a leather-free finish, featuring a sustainable Veganza/Alcantara option with hand-stitched contrasting seams on the instrument panel. Dynamically backlit milled aluminium interior trims add to the refined yet athletic premium feel. The BMW Curved Display and a newly designed gear selector further enhance the cabin’s progressive style.
Newly designed seats provide greater comfort for long drives, with optional sports seats available in Econeer and M sport seats for a more athletic touch. All seat versions come with heating and electric adjustment options, while sports seats can be upgraded with a massage function, and lumbar support is available for the M sport seats. The standard sports steering wheel can be replaced with the redesigned M leather steering wheel, which includes shift paddles for manual gear changes as part of the M Sport package. Standard safety features now include an interaction airbag between the driver and front passenger for optimised occupant protection.
The BMW M235 xDrive Gran Coupé (combined fuel consumption according to WLTP: 8.2 – 7.5 l/100 km (62 miles); combined CO2 emissions according to WLTP: 185 – 170 g/km; combined fuel consumption according to Pkw-EnVKV: 8.2 l/100 km (62 miles); combined CO2 emissions according to Pkw-EnVKV: 185 g/km; CO2 class according to Pkw-EnVKV: G) is at the top of the model range and features significantly enhanced performance characteristics. Powered by a 221 kW/300 hp 4-cylinder engine, the BMW M performance automobile accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.9 seconds.
An M Technology package for racetrack-oriented performance, including additional lightweight construction measures, 19-inch forged M light-alloy wheels and an M compound brake system offering particularly high deceleration performance, is also offered exclusively for the new BMW M235 xDrive Gran Coupé.
The M Sport Package and M Sport Package Pro further enhance the vehicle’s dynamic presence.
A standard feature on the new BMW M235 xDrive Gran Coupé and available as part of the optional M Sport package for other models, the adaptive M suspension significantly enhances both agility and long-distance comfort. This is achieved through variable, mechanically controlled, frequency-selective shock absorbers that smooth out pressure peaks via additional valves on the traction side. The Adaptive M suspension lowers the vehicle by up to 8 millimetres and includes sports steering, delivering a more dynamic and responsive driving experience.
The standard and optional driver assistance systems available for the new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé set standards among the competition in terms of functional range and reliability. Standard features include the Driving Assistant with front collision warning, Lane Departure Warning, exit warning and Speed Limit Info, as well as the Parking Assistant with Reversing Assistant.
Optional highlights include the Steering and Lane Control Assistant, the automatic Speed Limit Assist and a route speed control when using Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function. Parking Assistant Professional is likewise available for the models BMW 220 Gran Coupé and BMW 220d Gran Coupé: This allows drivers to control parking manoeuvres from outside their vehicle using a smartphone and the My BMW app.
The significantly expanded range of standard equipment for the new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé also includes BMW Live Cockpit Plus featuring the cloud-based navigation system BMW Maps. New optional equipment packages allow for targeted customisation. For example, the Innovation package includes BMW Live Cockpit Professional with BMW Head-Up Display and Augmented View on the Control Display, as well as Parking Assistant Plus.
