BMW 8 SERIES The sumptuous new BMW 8 Series represents a bold step forward to the bright new future of the manufacturer, a future that sees the development of luxury sports cars that operate in their own unique segment. More dynamic to drive than any other GT car before it but more practical than any outright sports car on the market, the return of the 8 Series to the manufacturer’s lineup marks the arrival of the future.

TECHNOLOGY. The development of innovative and ground-breaking technology plays an integral role in the new BMW 8 Series. But, unlike those that integrate technology for technology’s sake, the 8 Series has been developed with the idea of making driving pleasure as refined as can be. Driver assistance measures such as Parking Assistant Plus provide a surround view of the environment on the vehicle’s integrated colour touchscreen, a unit which also acts at the hub for entertainment and driver information. With BMW Live Cockpit Professional and BMW Operating System 7.0, controlling and accessing features using gestures and voice controls makes the drive safer and more engaging.

PERFORMANCE. BMW has ensured that there can be no question of the 8 Series’ credentials. The BMW M850i xDrive Coupé uses BMWs N63 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. Comprehensively reworked for the 8 Series and using a revised cylinder head with larger turbos, the M850i produces 523bhp. With acceleration to 62mph achieved in a breath-taking 3.7 seconds, there is no holding back when it comes to getting behind the wheel of this thrilling coupé. The 840d is no slouch either, using a 3-litre straight-six diesel engine, 0-62mph is achieved in 4.9 seconds thanks to its 315bhp and punchy 501lb ft of torque.

Exterior. Generous curves and muscular surfaces work alongside an elongated bonnet to ensure that this sport coupé looks the part of refined GT. The 8 Series is unashamedly luxurious in its design, adding such touches as chunky alloy wheels with voluminous wheel arches to keep you low to the ground, and a double-arched roof that is reminiscent of sports vehicles of yesteryear. Then there is the iconic BMW kidney grille, wide rear lights, and minimalist floating mirrors that are subtle touches of class to an already well-defined vehicle.

Interior. As you might expect from a luxury sports car, the interior of the new 8 Series has been crafted to reach the perfect combination of comfort and functionality. This begins with the Comfort Access system which eliminates the need for a key to unlock the vehicle, instead connecting to your smartphone and the BMW Digital Key. Once you are in, however, the dynamic interior lighting, Bowers & Wilkins Diamond surround system, and multi-function, low slung sports seats envelop you and ensure you’re ready for a drive that is sporty luxury all the way. Thanks to stainless steel trim and Merino leather upholstery, you are assured complete comfort.

SAFETY. In addition to the driver assistance technology to help edge you into parking spots, the BMW 8 Series offers a number of active and passive measures to protect you and your passengers on the road. The optional Driving Assistant Professional, for example, provides critical support during longer journeys, with the Steering and Lane control assistant, and Automatic Speed Limit Assist, working to keep you safe in all conditions.
