The X4 isn’t just about good looks – it also offers plenty of practicality, including a four-door body that allows easy access to both passenger compartments. There’s even a power-operated tailgate, which ensures that loading and unloading, even with hands full, is as simple as can be.
The X4’s sporty cabin possesses a light and airy feel and provides room for five adults. Front-row travellers are treated to adjustable positions, and the driver also has the benefit of a reach-and-rake steering wheel. Rear-row passengers can create more legroom if need be, simply by sliding the seats backwards. These same seats split-fold 40/20/40 too, which allows a 525-litre boot space to increase to a 1,430-litre capacity.
The X4 is installed with a 2.0-litre 187bhp diesel engine as standard, producing 400Nm of torque and 0-60mph in approximately 7.8 seconds. This four-cylinder unit also manages up to 52.3mpg and produces CO2 emissions from 142g/km, making it the most eco-friendly option available. If you seek maximum power, a 3.0-litre 349bhp petrol engine should do the trick. Paired with eight-speed sequential automatic transmission, this six-cylinder unit delivers a peak torque of 500Nm at 1,550 rpm, allowing the X4 to achieve 0-60mph in less than 4.8 seconds. This option also comes with an all-wheel drivetrain, which diverts engine power to rear wheels whenever necessary.
Whether you’re taking a short trip or embarking on a lengthy journey, you’ll always have the X4’s minimum six-speaker sound system to keep you entertained. Included are an FM/AM tuner, DAB radio and AUX and USB slots – and Bluetooth connectivity, which enables audio streaming and hands-free mobile phone communication. Also included as standard is an 8.8-inch touchscreen, via which you can access a number of satellite navigation features, such as 3D mapping and traffic updates. You’ll also have Apple CarPlay at your disposal, which can mirror your iPhone via the vehicle’s display screen.
