THE NEW BMW i3 SERIES. THE ELECTRIC GENERATION. The all-electric BMW i3 is the world’s first mass production model to be designed for sustainability at every stage.
INTRODUCING THE BMW i3… As progressive as it is sustainable, the i3 is truly a deserving winner of awards such as the World Green Car Award and the World Car Design of the Year.

The sleek and compact BMW i3 makes every journey a joy. Whether it’s for short trips around the city or longer journeys on the motorway, the i3 provides sustainable and efficient driving wherever you’re going. Furthermore, the all-electric i3 produces zero emissions, an important plus in an era of climate change and rising fuel prices.
TECHNOLOGY. BMW’s eDrive propulsion system is one of the most sophisticated available to electric car buyers. As well as reducing carbon emissions to negligible amounts, the motor is capable of deploying all of its considerable torque from 0mph and doing it in near-total silence. Regenerative braking, meanwhile, converts the car’s existing kinetic energy and sends it back to the motor from the moment you lift your foot from the accelerator.

Another advanced piece of technology available with the i3 is the optional Range Extender, which can boost the total range of the vehicle in COMFORT mode from the standard 125 miles (or the approximately 150 miles possible in ECO PRO mode) to 205 miles. With the Dynamic Range Display in the i3, your personal driving behaviour, current surroundings and temperature are taken into account, providing an accurate and reliable driving range.
PERFORMANCE. As the BMW i3 produces zero CO2 emissions, owners are exempt from the London Congestion Charge and Vehicle Excise Duty. The motor in the i3 is positioned, along with the lithium-ion battery, to support the car's low centre of gravity; it generates 170bhp and a forceful 250Nm of torque, resulting in 0-62mph acceleration in just eight seconds.
Charging the battery is simple… …you can do so at home via an installed home charging point, or at any of the UK's network public charging locations. A rapid charge can take as little as half an hour, getting you back on the move with minimal delays. For those using a standard wall-mounted cable installed at their home, the i3 will reach 80% of its charging capacity in less than ten hours. However, for an even faster charge a BMW i Wallbox Pure or a BMW i Wallbox Pro will charge your car to 80% capacity in less than four hours.
EXTERIOR. The distinctive BMW i3 is singled out as an electric car by its vibrant blue highlights across the body and around its iconic kidney grille. The bonnet, roof and tailgate are finished in a glossy black to contrast against any of the bold paintwork colour options available on the model.

The rear spoiler provides a sporty touch and incorporates a third high-mounted brake light. Sensors on the i3 help to activate the headlights and wipers just as they're required.
INTERIOR. The interior of the i3 is genuinely unique. Its LifeDrive modular design, created by BMWi’s Head of Design Benoit Jacob, embraces the i3’s ecologically friendly status by utilising recycled wood and carbon elements throughout. Certain components are derived from the lightweight material kenaf (derived from the mallow plant), which reduces the need for petroleum-derived materials. Sustainable eucalyptus wood finishes and leather seating elements tanned using olive leaves (formerly seen as a useless by-product of olive farming) are other signs of the ingenuity invested in making the i3 one of the most environmentally friendly cars in the world.
SAFETY. As you travel, you can be confident that the car is alert and ready to ensure your safety. The i3’s cabin is made from a carbon fibre reinforced shell, which acts as the first layer of defence. All windows are also made from tempered safety glass. Standard equipment in the i3 includes protective measures such as front, side and head airbags, side impact protection, Dynamic Stability Control+, ABS and the Tyre Puncture Warning System.

For an additional level of safety, optional Driving Assistant Plus includes Active Cruise Control, which ensures that the i3 stays a safe and consistent distance from the vehicle in front at speeds of up to 85mph, and the traffic jam assistant, which performs the same function during stop-start urban driving.
